KUCHING: Sarawak are all geared up for the tough, new Malaysian League season which kicks off on Feb 13, with its import footballers fitting in as a cog in the wheel to win.

Head coach Datuk K Rajagobal said his players have improved by leaps and bounds after completing a pre-season tour in Semenanjung Malaysia and Vietnam where in their final friendly match against Dong Nai FC, the Crocs won 2-1 to register their fourth pre-season match.

Earlier matches saw Sarawak beating Selangor PKNS 2-1, Binh Phuoc FC 2-1, Ho Chi Minh 1-0 but losing 0-2 to Selangor.

“The players have shown improvement in various aspects such as physical, fitness and confidence.

“Moreover, I also observed that the understanding between the players have gotten better which is a very positive sign for the squad in our preparations in facing the stiff challenge ahead,” said the former national coach.

According to Rajagobal, he was satisfied with the style of the new players, especially the foreign imports who have blended well with the home lads.

With only eight more days left to the commencement of the new M-League season, Rajagobal will be fully utilising the precious time to mold his players into a formidable team in the Super League, FA Cup and Malaysia Cup competitions.

“I believe there is still much room for us to improve from time to time to strengthen the squad,” added Rajagobal.

Sarawak are still looking for a team from outside the state to be the “sparring” team for its warming up game after the friendly against Penang yesterday was cancelled.

Meanwhile, the Crocs will be launching its new jersey at CityOne shopping mall today at 2pm.

Sarawak will kick off their Super League campaign against PDRM (Police) at Hang Jebat Stadium in Malacca next Saturday (Feb 13), after which they shall face Felda United FC at Stadium Negeri, Petra Jaya on Feb 16.
