SIBU: Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau Lee Ming, Pemanca Datuk Wong Kie Yek and 11 Penghulus received their reappointment letters from Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee yesterday.
Hii also presented a letter of appointment to the newly appointed Kapitan, 59-year-old Lee Kung Kwong.
Lee’s area of attention covers the Ai Ting Housing Area.
Minister of Local Government and Community Development Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh witnessed the presentation.
He told the community leaders to always support the government.
“You must speak on behalf of the government. You are selected by the government which means you receive support from the government,” he said.
He also urged them to work as a team to ensure that they give their best services to the people.
Lau, on the other hand, told community leaders that their appointments were a privilege, but they had a gigantic responsibility to shoulder.
