KUCHING: A lorry attendant was killed on his way home from work after colliding with an oncoming car along Jalan Batu Kitang on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Mohd Syawalrizman Mortadza, 30, of Kampung Bukit Panchor.

The incident occurred around 7.15pm not long after the victim – the eldest of nine siblings – had left his workplace at Mile 5 Penrissen Road on a motorcycle.

The collision happened a short distance from his house after an oncoming car was alleged to have veered into his lane and crashed head-on into Mohd Syawalrizman, killing him on the spot.

Family members hurried to the scene upon learning of the incident but could do nothing except mourn over his sudden demise.

Traffic police personnel were present to investigate and later send the body to the Sarawak General Hospital for a post mortem.

In a separate incident, a motorcyclist was badly hurt following a collision near the Jalan Tun Jugah flyover late Thursday afternoon.

The 51-year-old victim was travelling towards Jalan Lapangan Terbang around 5pm when he slammed into the rear of a Toyota Unser and was left lying motionless on the road.

Personnel from the Civil Defence Force rushed to the scene following a distress call and sent the victim to the Sarawak General Hospital where he was admitted into the Red Zone for treatment.
