LIMBANG: Rural folks here are reassured that every effort is being undertaken to revive the Meritam-Pengkalan Rejab road project that was abandoned five years ago.

Bukit Kota assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the first phase of the project from Meritam to Telahak has been completed.

New tenders have been called for three other phases of the projects, he said.

The second phase from Telahak to Kampung Buang Abai will cost RM15-million

“This road from Meritam to Pengkalan Rejab is an important alternative road for villagers from 10 kampungs in the area.

“Thus every effort is made to complete the project,” he assured Thursday when met by reporters at the launch of a road safety campaign in conjunction with Chinese New Year.

Dr Abdul Rahman added that the project would be completed within three years.

Also present were Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang, Resident of Limbang Division Datuk Maria Hasman, Limbang Zone Bomba chief Edmund Dmahai Amboh, head of Limbang Road Transport Department Julaihi Dison and Temenggong Ang Kheng Su.
