SIBU: All five SUPP branches here are requesting the CWC members led by Datuk Dr Sim Hui Hian to meet up with the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also the BN chairman to deliberate on the state election and the BN spirit.

“One Chinese newspaper reported today (yesterday) that an ‘Adenan Team’ comprising BN component parties and non-BN component parties would be formed.

“It is the view of the five SUPP Sibu branches that the report is highly misleading. Whilst SUPP strongly supports Adenan’s leadership and his liberal policies, the component parties of ‘Adenan Team’ must comprise only BN component parties. This is the essence of BN,” they said.

They said Articles 6.2.(n),13 and 24.6 of the BN constitution also stated clearly that all political decisions must be made unanimously and any admission of new component party must be unanimously agreed upon by all existing BN component parties, adding that unanimity was the essence of BN spirit.

During the SUPP Delegates Conference held in 2015, it was unanimously resolved that SUPP must contest in all 19 state seats.

“The Delegates Conference is the supreme authority of SUPP, therefore party members and leaders must comply.

“During the various meetings between the chief minister and CWC members of SUPP, Adenan was fully aware of such resolution and he pointed out that due to the unanimity clause in the BN constitution, UPP cannot become a BN component party member,” they said.

BN is the only political alliance registered under the 1966 Societies Act.

“As such, BN must act in accordance with its own constitution, failing which any component party of BN can lodge a complaint to the ROS which will commence an investigation against BN,” they said.

In the family of BN, all component parties are equal partners irrespective of their political strength meaning each component party has one vote each only.

“UPP leaders have always boasted that their proposed candidates are most winnable. They are UPP candidates and not BN candidates.

“In accordance with the BN spirit, the most winnable BN candidates must be recommended and endorsed by the respective BN component party members. UPP candidates have nothing to do with BN candidates,” they added.
