SRI AMAN: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Lingga has lodged a total of eight police reports at Sri Aman, Lingga and Maludam police stations over banners bearing the photograph of Lingga assemblywoman Simoi Peri and asking her to be dropped from the list of Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates for the coming state election.

They said the banners were damaging to PBB Lingga and Simoi, particularly when her photograph and the phrases ‘Berundurlah Wahai YB’ (YB Please Retire) and ‘Undurlah Simoi’ (Simoi step back) were posted on facebook and another phrase ‘Sayangkan BN undurkan SIMOI’ (If you love BN, drop Simoi) was posted on fan pages, which were said to be spread since Feb 5.

PBB Lingga branch chairman Awang Magerib Awang Ani said they wanted the police to take action on the matter and prosecute the offenders in the court of law as they had disparaged the image and reputation of the assemblywoman apart from being malicious and highly defamatory.

Moreover, using PBB logo without approval from the headquarters was also wrong, he pointed out when met here yesterday. He said he was also representing PBB units in Ladong, Lemanak, Stumbin, Bijat and Seduku.

Apart from Awang Magerib, the other PBB members who also lodged police reports were unit leaders Abang Akim, Zuharah Achang, Roselan Jaya, Tuntun Raman, Suria Loss and Noraizam Norati.
