For growing numbers of Malaysian students, branch campuses of leading universities like Curtin Sarawak – largest international campus of Curtin University – offer the perfect combination of location, quality education and affordability.

Given the rising cost of education overseas, it offers students an alternative of a quality Australian education right at their doorsteps.

Curtin Sarawak is a globally-focused tertiary institution with close to 4,000 students from more than 45 countries.

Highly-qualified teaching staff from some 15 countries further strengthen its international outlook.

In addition to experiencing a unique cross-cultural learning environment, students study courses identical to those at other Curtin campuses, and degrees earned at the Sarawak campus are directly conferred by Curtin University.

Curtin Sarawak offers courses in business, humanities, engineering and related sciences at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

It also offers foundation programmes in business and engineering that feed directly into the undergraduate programmes.

Students are offered flexibility in completing their degrees: they can study part of their degrees at the main campus in Perth or another Curtin campus.

Studying at Curtin Sarawak not only ensures graduates a world-class Curtin degree and the practical experience required to further their careers, but through accreditation of the courses offered, recognition by government and professional bodies as well.

They include engineering courses accredited by the Board of Engineers Malaysia and Engineers Australia such as bachelor degrees in chemical, civil and construction, computer system, electrical power, electronic and communication, and mechanical engineering.

Accredited or recognised business courses include Bachelor of Commerce single major in Accounting, and double majors in Accounting and Banking, Accounting and Entrepreneurship, and Accounting and Finance by the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia, CPA Australia, Malaysian Institute of Accountants and Malaysian Institution of Certified Public Accountants.

Quality is also assured through Curtin University’s strong global university rankings.

It is currently ranked in the top two per cent of universities worldwide in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and in the top 200 ARWU field ranking for Engineering/Technology and Computer Sciences.

It also ranks highly in the QS World University Ranking (QSWUR): Top 50 under 50 ranking, Times Higher Education World University Ranking (THEWUR) of 100 Most International Universities in the World and 100 under 50 rankings.

Curtin was also awarded five stars in the 2015 QS Stars University Ratings.

In the QSWUR by subject rankings, Curtin has two subjects featured in the world’s top 50 and 14 other subjects in the top 200.

In particular, potential students to Curtin Sarawak should note that Curtin ranks in the world’s top 100 for chemical engineering and top 150 for electrical and electronic engineering and communication and media studies in the 2015 QSWUR by subject rankings.

It is also in the top 200 for civil engineering, computer science and information systems, environmental sciences, accounting and finance, and business and management studies; and top 300 in mechanical engineering.

Curtin Sarawak offers a range of Curtin undergraduate courses in these disciplines, as well as postgraduate courses by coursework or research in many of them.

In addition, Curtin Sarawak holds Tier 5 or Excellent ratings from the Ministry of Education for overall quality and its engineering programmes.

It is one of eight universities in Malaysia granted self-accreditation status.

Like its Australian parent, Curtin Sarawak is widely recognised for its practical and the campus continues to rapidly ramp up its already strong research capacities in its faculties, Curtin Sarawak Graduate School and Curtin Sarawak Research Institute.

This includes the development of an over RM50 million BioValley Research Centre and RM20 million Faculty of Engineering and Science building with facilities for teaching and postgraduate work to meet the research needs of government and industry.

Aiming to produce graduates of the highest calibre, Curtin Sarawak encourages student learning and development beyond the classroom by providing a variety of leadership roles through various student clubs and development programmes.
