Man threatening to blow up PM’s residence remanded for five days

KUALA LUMPUR: The owner of a Facebook account, in which a statement threatening to blow up the Prime Minister’s residence was posted, has been remanded for five days beginning yesterday (Feb 13).

According to the Royal Malaysian Police’s (PDRM) Facebook page, the suspect was detained to facilitate investigations under Section 130G of the Penal Code.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar when contacted by Bernama, confirmed that the suspect was arrested at his home in Parit Buntar, Perak.

The 28-year-old suspect was alleged to have posted the statement on Feb 4.

Prior to this, Deputy IGP Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the police viewed the threat seriously, and that they were tracing the owner of the account to assist with the investigation.

In Ipoh, Perak Criminal Investigation/Operation deputy chief ACP Fadzil Ahmat said the man was arrested at his home at 4.30pm yesterday. – Bernama
