Strong winds, rough seas predicted in East Coast, S’wak and Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR: Strong winds and rough seas over the waters off the east coast states of the peninsula, Sarawak and Sabah are expected to persist from Wednesday until Friday.

The areas that will be affected are Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, east Johor, Sarawak, Labuan and Kudat and the west coast and interior of Sabah, the Malaysian Meteorological Services Department stated in a statement here today (Feb 14).

It said strong Northeasterly winds of 40 to 50 kmph and waves of up 3.5 metres high are also expected to occur over the areas.

“This condition of strong winds and rough seas is dangerous to all shipping and coastal activities including fishing boats and ferry services,” said the statement.

Similar weather conditions are expected to occur over Samui, Tioman, Bunguran, Layang-Layang, Reef South, Kuching, Palawan and Labuan. – Bernama
