Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang (KTDTHB) finished as champion for four years in a row in the Girls’ Under-18 category of the School Sports Council (MSS) Miri Division hockey tournament.

MIRI: SM Sains Miri emerged as overall champion in Boys’ Under-18 category of the School Sports Council (MSS) Miri Division hockey tournament which ended on Feb 19, beating SMK Riam into second spot while third place went to SMK Chung Hua Miri.

Nicholas Nanta David was picked Best Goalkeeper while Muhammad Nurfitri Rajudin was adjudged Best Player and Sharizan Best Overall Player. All three are from SM Sains Miri.

In the Girls’ Under-18, Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang (KTDTHB) finished as champion for four years in a row. SM Sains Miri came second and SMK Riam, third.

Alicia Janie Ranggi finished as Best Goalkeeper, Veronica Vanesia as Best Player and Charlena Lawing as Best Overall Player.

All three are from KTDTHB.

According to Miri hockey coach Rudy Naziri, the three-day event at the Youths Sports Centre received encouraging response from schools here.

“We received entries from 11 schools for the Boys’ category and eight schools for the Girls’ section,” he said, adding the event was to polish talents in hockey.
