Ninety muaythai fighters set to rumble in Bintulu

BINTULU: A total of 90 local and international muaythai fighters will converge at Bintulu Old Airport site for the TYT Cup Muaythai Tournament from March 10-13.

It will be jointly organised by Bintulu Development Authority (BDA), Sarawak Muaythai Association and Bintulu Resident Office in collaboration with other government agencies.

At the press conference on Monday, BDA general manager Rodziah Morshidi said the Invitational International and Pro Borneo fights should attract the crowd. Fighters will be arriving from Thailand, South Africa, Brunei, Kalimantan, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak.

A total of 60 fighters will compete in the Invitational Amateur Borneo category while the other 30 will vie for the Pro Bintulu Cup, Pro TYT Cup and Pro Invitational Borneo and International.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib are expected to officiate at the prize-giving ceremony on the night of March 11.

A total of 50 booths will also be opened at the venue for local traders on a first-come-first-serve basis.
