KUCHING: FAME International College (formerly known as FTMS College) is offering two ‘3+0 bachelor degree’ programmes from the University of Cumbria (UoC) of the United Kingdom (UK).
The programmes—Bachelor of Science (Hons) Business Management, Accounting and Finance, and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) International Business Management—are facilitated by local lecturers, who work closely with UoC to ensure students receive similar learning experiences as students studying on-campus in the UK.
In a press statement yesterday, FAME International College (FAME) said the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Business Management, Accounting and Finance, aimed to get students ready for the business world through robust understanding of applied financial theories and concepts.
The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) International Business Management equipped students with extensive knowledge of the international business environment.
All FAME diploma holders gain direct entry into Year Two (Level Five) of the degree programmes, thus allowing them to attain the bachelor degree locally.
Students who completed FAME’s Foundation in Management are eligible to proceed to Year One or Level Four.
“FAME and UoC are jointly offering full and partial scholarships to Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) and UEC (Unified Examination Certificate) leavers. STPM leavers who obtained CGPA of 3.5 and above are eligible for full scholarships, while those with CGPA 3.0-3.49 are eligible for 50 per cent scholarship.”
Meanwhile, UEC leavers with 9A’s are eligible for full scholarships. Fifty per cent scholarships will be awarded to those who obtained 7A’s to 8A’s.
However, seats for full scholarships are limited and on a first-come-first serve basis for qualified candidates.
Meanwhile, the statement added that UoC is an established university in the UK.
According to the Guardian League Table 2016 published on May 26, 2015, the university’s business management courses were ranked 39 out of 96 business schools in the UK.
The university’s business school also won the prestigious Small Business Charter in recognition of its work in supporting small businesses, start-ups, and their local economy.
Recently, UoC received the HR Excellence in Research Award from the European Commission.
The award recognises the university’s commitment to supporting the growth and career development of its researchers, with the aim of improving the quantity, quality and impact of research undertaken at the institution.
FAME is a private education provider offering courses leading to Certificate in Business Studies, Foundation in Management, and four diplomas: Diploma in Accounting and Finance, Diploma in Business Administration, Diploma in Business Information Systems, and Diploma in Entrepreneurship. It also offers Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) and The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
FAME provides full scholarships to students who qualify. Other scholarships offered include the Crowe Horwath scholarship for students interested in the Diploma in Accounting and Finance course.
FAME gives Hardship Scholarship to eligible students whose families’ monthly household income is less than RM2,000.
All courses offered by FAME are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

The college is open from 8.30am to 9pm daily from Mondays to Fridays and from 8.30am to 5pm on Saturdays.
However, FAME will be opened on Sundays from 9am to 5pm throughout this month.
