UCTS inks MoU with OM Materials (Sarawak) on CTD

SIBU: University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) and the OM Materials (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Corporate Talent Development Scheme (CTD) and research collaboration on Micro Silica.

According to a press release from UCTS, the MoU was signed by UCTS vice chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Abdul Hakim Juri on behalf of UCTS while general manager (operation) for OM Materials Sarawak Sdn Bhd Chen Xiao Dong represented the company.

The research partnership marked the start of a new teamwork and alliance between the two organisations.

It provides good opportunity for UCTS undergraduate degree students to be exposed to genuine industrial working environment besides the typical internship placement and practicum in the company through the CTD Scheme.

Both parties have decided to pool resources and join hands in the
research activities focusing on by-products from OM Materials Sarawak Sdn Bhd, including micro silica characterisation and its applications,
for example in high-performance concrete in new building/construction materials among others.
