KUCHING: A total of 13 teams from around Batu Kawa competed in a futsal tournament organised by Sarawak National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Batu Kawa branch at RPR Batu Kawa Phase 1 futsal court yesterday.

The event was officiated by Saberkas Batu Kawa branch chairman Dato Ahmad Ibrahim.

“The participation of youths from Batu Kawa in this competition has been very encouraging and this proves that there is a spirit of goodwill and understanding amongst them.

“As such, Saberkas Batu Kawa branch will organise this futsal competition again next year and I would like to see the Chinese community as well as women participating as well,” Ahmad said.

Also present were Saberkas Batu Kawa branch secretary Shamsudin Unai and the organising chairman Moliadi Ahmad.

The tournament was played out in league format for the Dato Sri Ibrahim Mahmud Challenge Trophy.

The top four teams stand to win cash prizes of RM1000, 700, 500 and 200.

The team that carries home the Dato Sri Ibrahim Mahmud Challenge Trophy will also receive RM500 while the runner-up will take RM200.
