TUARAN: The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) wants to arm the people with its iDengue smartphone application (app) to battle dengue in Sabah.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau, said the war against dengue is not only the job of the government alone but also the responsibility of the people.
Once dengue is detected in their community circle, the people should empower themselves to take matters into their own hands, he emphasized.
This can be done through the free app which alerts residents about dengue cases in their neighbourhood or current surrounding areas throughout the whole country.
According to Madius, the iDengue app, recently launched through a National Blue Ocean Strategy effort with the Health Ministry (KKM), provides real-time KKM updates and information to its users.
“When we see that a place has dengue cases, especially if it is within a person’s community itself, they must together take steps to gotong royong, clean the area, and so on,” said Madius here yesterday.
“Get the concerned agencies to take preventive measures, such as fogging to kill the adult (Aedes mosquitos), and its larvaes.
“The government wants the people to battle the dengue epidemic using the app. We invite all Malaysians who have a smartphone, to please log on and download the free app,” he added.
