SIBU: Over 100 Sibu skaters, including seven from Indonesia and three from Kuala Lumpur, will converge on the Skate Park at Sibu Town Square for the touted biggest X-Games on Saturday beginning at 8am.

The IV Division X games committee is organising the March 26 event as a three-in-one celebration – skateboarding competition; an exhibition of the Customs Classic Motor Fest (CCMF); and Gig Performance by six local bands.

Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee in his capacity as advisor of the committee invited everyone to turn up for the event.

“This is a good chance for local skaters to watch these skaters riding and performing tricks. Hopefully, people will turn up in full force,” he said.

Annuar said the games was to provide youths with a platform for leisure.

“If the event proves to be a hit, we will make it an annual and incorporate it as an item in the calendar of events for Visit Sibu Year 2017,” he enthused.

Event organiser Bob Azahari said the X-Games was divided into: skateboarding competition, aggressive inline skating and BMX; with each category offering top 3 prizes of RM1,000, RM800 and RM500.

“In addition, a free helmet will be given to all participants.”

he said the CCMF bikes to be exhibited included kapcai classic, street cub, café vacor and vespa. The car decoration exhibition covers the rusty classic, restore classic and best classic. The top three winners will walk away with RM500, RM300 and RM100.

To spice up the occasion, six local bands will play: Ambushed; Wildhorse; Inspired the Bee; the Sazalis; Human Energy; and Collections. Visitors may get a free helmet — on a first-come basis. Annuar is expected to officiate at the closing ceremony at 5pm. — by Philip Wong
