KUCHING: Ninety-three officers who served in the Police Field Force (PFF) between 1969 and 1975 or their next of kin are urged to come forward and claim their Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributions that are being withheld by the authority.

The president of Squad 1/72 PFF Sarawak Brigade, Nadarajan Rengasamy, said they have until Dec 17 this year to forward their claims.

“They need to provide EPF their personal details like identity card numbers, their membership numbers and bank account numbers before EPF can credit the amount to their bank accounts,” he said.

“Without such details, EPF cannot do its part to give the claims to these officers, that’s why it needs our assistance to trace and look for them,” he added.

Nadarajan was met by The Borneo Post after the annual general meeting of the Association of Ex-Police Field Force Personnel, Sarawak Branch, to elect new office bearers for the 2016-2018 term here on Saturday.

“Our association in West Malaysia and Sarawak have been given a task to look for these officers, and we also seek the police and all government departments and agencies to help,” he said.

He acknowledged that it is very hard to contact these officers as most of them live in different parts of Sarawak and the association does not have their home addresses.

Nadarajan thus urged members of the association and those who know where these officers are to get in touch with him at 012-3773485 or 016-2622581.

He added they could also contact the following officers at the Police Headquarters in Kuching – ASP Mohd Hadzari Mohd Sahari (082-245522 ext 4048), Sapawi Hamdan (082-245522 ext 4189) or Simon Abang of the Salary Unit (082-245522 ext 4250).

He also said a total of 2,067 ex-police personnel who served during that period had received their EPF contributions.

Meanwhile, at the AGM, DSP (Rtd) Ahmad Abang was elected president of the Association of Ex-Police Field Force Personnel, Sarawak branch, for 2016-2018.

In his speech, Ahmad Abang thanked Nadarajan for his effort to ensure that the 93 officers claim what is rightfully theirs and said the association would do its best to look for these officers.
