KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took time out of his busy schedule to launch a special commemorative exhibition on his late father Tun Abdul Razak Hussein at tHe Spring Shopping Mall here yesterday.

Accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Najib spent time browsing through the nostalgic photographs of his father, the second prime minister of Malaysia.

Among the images displayed at the exhibition included Tun Razak’s visits to various places in the state including Sibu, Limbang and Baram.

This year marks 40 years since the demise of Tun Razak, fondly known as the Father of Development; having introduced the New Economic Policy that charted the country’s economic direction.

He served as prime minister from 1970 to 1976 before he passed away from leukemia on Jan 14, 1976 at the age of 53. His legacy has since been inherited by Najib, who is the sixth prime minister.

Social Development Minister Tan Sri William Mawan and State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani were among those present at the function.

The ‘Special Commemorative Exhibition on Tun Abdul Razak’, organized by the state Museum Department and Yayasan Cemerlang, runs until May 3.
