KUCHING: Four men suspected to be drug peddlers were arrested near a playground in Stutong yesterday as police continue their war on drugs in the district.

District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said the four suspects were nabbed by personnel from the district Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) at 2pm following a tip-off from the public.

“Acting on information from the public, district NCID personnel went to a playground at the Stutong Baru Resettlement Scheme and nabbed four suspected drug peddlers.

“An inspection of a bag in their possession uncovered three packets and five straw tubes containing what is believed to be Syabu weighing approximately 2.59g,” he said when contacted over the matter.

The suspects, he added, were currently held for further investigation under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952.

“Of late, my NCID officers and men have been working very hard and have done a good job in our war on the drug menace.

“I also really appreciate the public’s role in providing information to us about drug-related activities in various locations,” said Abang Ahmad.
