KAPIT: Committee members of Kapit Division Archery Association led by its chairman, Ting King Yiing, recently paid a courtesy call on Kapit Deputy Resident Zul Usup, who is in charge of social development, at his office in the State Complex here.

The purpose was to inform Zul of the set-up of the new association, which was formed in April last year, and to brief

him on the activities carried out by the association since its formation.

Ting told him that among the activities they had carried out were the Invitation Archery Competition last December and participation in Inter-Division Archery Competition in Kuching in which he and another member took part in.

“Our main task now is to promote this brand new sport to students of SMK Kapit, SMK Kapit 2 and SJK(C) Hock Lam. We’re not lack of enthusiasts among the students.

‘However, our main obstacle is lack of funds. So far we received RM5,000 from Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional

Development Datuk Alexander Nanta and RM1,000 from Sarawak Workers Party president Larry Sng Wei Shien for our planned activities. But that’s insufficient to purchase equipment and accessories which he have to import from Kuala Lumpur,” he told the Deputy Resident.
