KUCHING: The police Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) was deployed to a house in Three Hills Park here after a woman found a suspicious bag in her compound yesterday afternoon.

District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said his men were alerted to the situation at 3pm after the woman found the plastic bag containing suspicious-looking objects which had either been placed or thrown into her compound.

“We took all the necessary precautions and sealed off the area before deploying the Bomb Disposal Unit as well as sniffer dogs to the scene. Nothing was left to chance, with the fully-suited-up BDU personnel proceeding to dispose the bag using a remote-controlled robot,” he said when contacted over the incident.

Abang Ahmad also confirmed that the suspicious object was not a bomb and neither did the plastic bag contain any explosive material. “Even though it was not a bomb, we made sure the area was cordoned off before sending in trained experts to deal with the situation,” he added.
