KUCHING: Empila Boy defied promotion by strolling to an easy win in Race 5 (Class 1 – 1000M) on Sunday.

The four-year-old, promoted to Class One after two wins in his last two starts, proved too hot to handle for the field of eight runners in top company, cantering home to give Roslan Bujang an armchair ride and bring his tally to three wins from three outings.

The big chestnut colt was never in any danger as he cruised to the finish with 41/2 lengths to spare from Bintang Kilong (Hamid Elli) with Augustus (Mazlan Bujang) third 4 lengths away.

Empila Boy, owned by Beraya Stable and trained by Tamizi Putit, paid RM9.

Little Apache (Azizi Jasmi) bounced back from two unplaced runs to score an impressive win in Race 2 (Class 4 – 1000M).

The 7-year-old skewbald appreciated the yielding track by streaking to an eight-length victory from Perfect Dancer (Maruf Wahab) with Nabila (Roslan Bujang) third 5 lengths adrift.

Little Apache, owned by Penny Stable and trained by Edmund Sim, paid RM12.

Storm Raider (Jasmi Kamar) had no problem vanquishing the Class 2 field over 1000M in Race 4 despite promotion to that class after one second and one win in his two previous starts.

The five-year-old strode effortlessly to the finish, eight lengths clear of hot favourite Bojeng (Hamid Elli) with top weight Royal Command (Azizi Jasmi) third 3 ¾ lengths further back.

Storm Raider, owned by Beraya Stable and trained by Tamizi Putit, paid RM17.

The final day of the current meeting is on April 17.
