SARIKEI: Bintangor SUPP Youth (Red) team emerged as Men’s Open champion in the Sarikei Basketball tournament held at Susur Jambu Basketball Stadium here from April 1-9.

Global Security Technology and Bintangor SUPP Youth (Black) team finished second and third respectively.

The top three teams in the Women’s Open were Friendship, NST and Sarikei Highians. Black Wind, Next Team and Ming Lik were first, second and third respectively in the Boy’s Under-17 competition.

The nine-day tournament attracted a total of 16 teams.

Prizes were presented by a prominent local businessman Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii last Saturday evening.

Huang, who was recently announced as the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate to contest in Repok for the upcoming state election, expressed the hope that more such competitions would be organized to help Sarikei regain its past glory in sports.
