KAPIT: The younger generation should tap into the vast business opportunities by becoming entrepreneurs.

In order to prepare them for the business world, the government had established many entrepreneurship programmes to help them make a career in business, Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said.

“The government promotes entrepreneurship among the youths. There are many courses and motivation programmes as well as flexible loan facilities to help them venture into the business world and to be self-employed.

“There’s no way that every university graduate can enter the civil service or the private sector, so they should acquire entrepreneurship skills and start their own business,” he advised.

Nanta was speaking to parents during the opening of the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) meeting of SMK Kapit 2 over the weekend.

He told them that it is important to cooperate with the school to ensure that their children receive the best education and go on to become successful individuals.

“The PTA plays a very important role as the link and bridge between parents, the community and the school. To add value, I appeal to the association to invite motivators or renowned facilitators to come over to the school to motivate both parents and students. Students must be taught to study effectively to prepare them for school or public examinations. The aim is to do well in their studies,” he explained.

He said he was glad to note that the attendance of parents at the PTA meetings increased every year, which he pointed out, showed they cared for their children’s education.

At the function, he announced a grant of RM20,000 for the PTA.

Also speaking at the function were school principal Robin Sabai and PTA chairman Tang Bukok.
