SARIKEI: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarikei secretary Wong Ching King quit the party yesterday because he has totally lost confidence in the state DAP leadership.

Wong, who resigned as a secondary school teacher to join DAP in 2011, said he relinquished all party posts including as a special assistant to Sarikei Member of Parliament Andrew Wong Ling Biu.

“I have prepared my resignation letter, which I will send to the party’s secretary-general via email later today (yesterday) and followed by a hard copy via courier service,” he told a press conference.

“Sarawak DAP leadership has trampled on my dignity as a party member and the autocratic style of the leadership of certain state DAP leaders has destroyed the unity of branch members and has compromised the public’s confidence towards DAP Sarikei branch in particular.”

He said it was sad that certain state DAP leaders, Sarikei branch leaders and members totally failed to uphold the basic principles of the party.

“I have also not yet made any decision on how I would be involved in the coming state election apart from exercising my right as a registered voter in N45 Repok. I will make the announcement if there is a new development,” he said.
