SIBU: Mother of slain bank manager Stephen Wong Jing Kui who continued her testimony in the High Court here yesterday said she was in deep grief during the funeral.

Law Boh Ing, 65, said she did not see her daughter in-law, Ling Hang Tsyr (accused in this case).

Cross-examined by the defence counsel Roger Chin, she said she did not notice that Ling could barely stand up at the time of the funeral when her friend by the name of Evonne held her.

She said as she was in deep grief, hence did not notice that the accused was very sad and crying most of the time.

To another question, she said she did not know that during the funeral, the church pastor even told the accused to be strong in order to continue to take care of her son, Joshua.

She disagreed with the defence counsel that after the death of her son, the accused was in the state of shock, depressed and crying frequently.

DC: Did you know that Joshua has allergies and could not take certain things like sweet, fried food and cold drink as instructed by a medical doctor.

Law: I was not told about that.

DC: After having married to your son, the accused used to help you out selling clothes on Saturdays and Sundays.

Law: Only occasionally and after she moved out to the new house with my son. She did not do so after that.

DC: On Saturdays and Sundays, she even asked her friends to come over to the house to buy new clothes and towards end of the year as well as towards Chinese New Year.

Law: Yes, only occasionally.
