Red shirt rally organiser barred from entering Sarawak

KUCHING:  One of UMNO’s division chiefs Datuk Jamal Yunos was barred from entering Sarawak this morning (Apr 14).

Together with him were several members of an NGO.  They are here to campaign for BN for the upcoming state election.

Jamal was given a notice of entry refusal by the Immigration Department, undersigned by Kuching International Airport Immigration Office Chief Kamarol Johari on behalf of State Immigration Director.

The letter dated Apr 14 stated that under Section 65(1)(a) of Immigration Act 1959/63, the state authority has directed that no pass be issued to Jamal to enter Sarawak.

The pass is required for Jamal to enter under Section 66 of the same Act.

They are now being held at Kuching International Airport waiting to be sent on the next flight back to Peninsular Malaysia.

Jamal was the organiser of Red Shirt Rally held in Kuala Lumpur.  He led a group of supporters to demonstrate in front of Sogo in response to the rally planned by electoral reform group Bersih on Aug 29 to 30.
