KAPIT: SK Methodist will receive government grants totalling RM35,000.
Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi presented RM15,000 to the parent-teacher association recently and announced a further RM10,000 for an educational tour to SK St Ann, Sarikei as well as RM10,000 to organise a motivational seminar for parents and pupils.
He said SK Methodist did very well in last year’s Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR).
“I believe that a good planning system helped pupils to excel in their studies. When we have proper planning and a system, we can produce quantity and quality,” said Nanta.
He also cited the Chinese community’s success due to their commitment to education.
“Chinese, when they settled down in a place, the first thing they did was to set up an association and then to build a school. They emphasise on filial piety, education and discipline to do well,” he said.
