A huge crowd gathers at Kapit Terminal to welcome Jamit (centre) home while giving their thumbs-up.

KAPIT: A huge crowd gathered at Kapit Terminal here yesterday afternoon to welcome home Jefferson Jamit Unyat who was announced as the BN candidate for Bukit Goram on Tuesday in Kuching.

The crowd was made up of BN component parties here, namely, PBB, PRS, SUPP and SPDP and supporters from non-governmental organisations, community leaders and individuals.

The gathering was also meant to show Adenan their support for nominating Jamit to stand in Bukit Goram in the coming election.

Jamit, 57, is a cousin of Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi the Kapit MP.

Jamit was appointed a political secretary to the chief minister two years ago. He was deputy chairman of PBB Pelagus Division and is the chairman of PBB Bukit Goram protem committee. He has vast political experience as a councillor and deputy Walikota of Kapit District Council.

Bukit Goram has 11, 492 voters comprising more than 80 per cent Dayak (Iban), 2,000 Chinese and 700 Malays.
