KOTA SAMARAHAN: About 100,000 people are expected at the ninth edition of ‘Sejiwa Senada 2016’ carnival being held at Samarahan District Office ground from today to Sunday.

According to the carnival committee advisor Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, a huge number of people are expected to come because Samarahan is located near Kuching.

Abang Johari said the last ‘Sejiwa Senada’ held in Sri Aman on April 8 to 10 attracted about 80,000 people.

“Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is expected to attend the opening ceremony this Saturday,” he said during a press conference at Samarahan Public Library yesterday.

Abang Johari, who is also Tourism Minister, said the programme showcased a good collaboration among agencies from federal and state governments and local authorities.

“A total of 212 agencies are participating in this ‘Sejiwa Senada’ Samarahan where 274 booths are set up,” he stated.

There will be performances by local entertainers such as Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Dayang Nurfaizah, Ifa Raziah and Ricky Andrewson.
