BUKIT MERTAJAM: A local man and his lover, a Chinese national, were detained in a raid on a condominium in Jalan Lestari, Perai near here and police seized several types of drugs worth RM45,000.

Seberang Perai Tengah Police Chief ACP Rusli Mohd Noor said the drugs which were seized in the raid resulting from public information at 2.30pm on Wednesday were 658.9g of ketamin, 314.4g of cannabis and 51.4g of Syabu.

“Various types of drugs were found in the living room of the house. All were believed to have been obtained from a syndicate and the man was packing them for distribution to customers in the state,” he said at a press conference here yesterday.

He said police also seized several chemical substances and drug processing equipment which had been hidden in the store of the condominium, and seized a Lexus RX-300 car as well as cash amounting to RM2,360.

He added that police believed the man, aged 34, had the skills to process the drugs.

Rusli said the man who was jobless and had five criminal records was discovered to have moved from location to location to avoid detection, and had just rented the condominium last January.

He said the Chinese national woman, aged 24 years, had entered the country in January on a social visit pass and had previously worked in an entertainment centre.

The couple tested positive for drugs and were remanded for seven days to assist in the investigations, he said. — Bernama
