KUCHING: Law Society of SEGi College Sarawak recently held a talk entitled ‘Life after Law School’ with the aim of enlightening current law students on the career prospects of law graduates.

Two speakers from a local law firm came; Karen Belarek a member of the Advocates’ Association of Sarawak (AAS) and Angela Liu, an alumna of SEGi Sarawak’s LLB programme.

They shared about life in the legal profession.

Aazina Mujahid Lee who currently practises law in Australia and is an alumna of SEGi’s Diploma in Law also shared her perspective as a legal eagle.

Following the completion of her Diploma, she finished her LLB degree at Queensland Technology of Australia, followed by her Master’s in Law (LLM).

Lee was called to the Bar in Australia before returning to Sarawak to contribute her legal expertise as a magistrate for half a decade.

SEGi law students gave very positive feedback following the talk.

One of the Diploma in Law students said: “This talk really gave me some interesting information, especially about possibly pursuing a career in the judiciary.”

According to a University of London student: “We are fortunate that the Law Society is proactive and can organise great events such as this, as it really makes our life as law students more enriching and enjoyable.”

An A-Level Law student reported, “It was great to see three women as guest speakers today. They really inspired and motivated me to work harder to achieve my goals.”

The Faculty of Law at SEGi College Sarawak is committed to provide quality legal education.

SEGi College Sarawak is the only college in East Malaysia to offer law programmes.

To ensure that the law students at SEGi graduate with skills that lead to high employability, the faculty provides a series of talks, workshops and forums to inform students about career prospects following their academic studies.
