SIBU: There should be unity and cooperation among all constituents if they want Barisan Nasional (BN) to win the coming 11th state election convincingly.

In giving this reminder, Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh said the people should be aware that a big win for BN is of paramount importance for the interest of the people and the state.

“Development can only be implemented if we choose the BN government.

“This has been proven by the BN government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem,” he said when addressing the meet-the-people session at Rumah Henry Barayan, Sungai Sebedil near here yesterday.

Wong, who is also the BN candidate for Bawang Assan, said only BN could channel aid and develop the state as well as improve infrastructure and amenities in rural areas, especially at longhouses.

“With this, I urge all residents particularly the voters including those in Sungai Sebedil to always support the BN government.”

He recalled that during the state election in 2011, 98 per cent of voters in Sungai Sebedil supported BN.

“I hope this time all will give their full support to the BN candidate in Bawang Assan, that is me,” Wong, who is also the Minister of Local Government and Community Development, stated.

He also drummed up support for his six comrades from United People’s Party (UPP) who would contest as direct BN candidates during the election.

They are Datuk Dr Jerip Susil for Mambong, Ranum Mina (Opar), Dr Johnical Rayong (Engkilili), Datuk Tiong Thai King (Dudong), Kapitan Datuk Janet Lau (Pelawan) and Datuk Hii King Chiong (Pujut).

Also present at the meet-the-people session were political secretary to the chief minister Andrew Shilling Bangit, Temenggung Stanley Geramong, Pemanca James Semilan, Penghulu Jeffery Sut, Sungai Sebedil area development committee chairman Luke Sulai and Tuai Rumah Henry Barayan.
