KUCHING: BN-SUPP Pending candidate Milton Foo’s outburst over Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s decision on BN direct candidates has earned himself brickbats from two PBB leaders.

PBB Supreme Council member Datuk Abdul Karim Hamzah in responding to the allegation, said such statement by a “political novice” who had been announced as a BN candidate was just unfortunate.

“Personally, to me, he doesn’t deserve to be a BN flag bearer and candidate if he does not know how to be a team player. His allegations and comments are very serious, provocative, and could affect the good relationship between SUPP and other BN coalition partners, especially PBB.

“To say that PBB members are not angry is an understatement. We are! He should apologise to our CM for this uncalled for remark,” Abdul Karim, who is BN-PBB candidate for Asajaya, said in a statement yesterday.

Another PBB Supreme Council member Abdullah Saidol said Foo’s open comment in questioning Adenan’s credibility and sincerity as state BN chairman were truly shocking and deemed politically inappropriate and rude.

“Not sure whether he had secured ‘blessing’ from his superior in SUPP before making such statement. If not, then he should consult his party leaders first before making such naive remarks which shows his ignorance.”

Abdullah, who is BN-PBB candidate for Semop remarked that Foo’s choice of word in his statement was directly undermining Adenan’s leadership, such that he (Abdullah) could not help but to describe Foo’s attitude as ‘kurang ajar’ (no manners), self-centred and discourteous.

“If Milton assumes my response is an act of ‘apple polishing’, then it is regrettable that he has no clue of who Adenan is. We in BN have our share of opportunity to be able to convey our disagreement or of different views and opinions with Adenan.

“Those who have been long in BN will understand that culture of ‘agree to disagree’ on certain issues with our leadership but mutual respect must be in place and such discussion should be done in an appropriate manner and forum.”

Abdullah said Foo’s allegation that Adenan had acted arbitrarily without consultation with BN component parties was grossly fallacious and vexatious, adding that Foo should be aware about how many times Adenan had met with SUPP leaders to discuss and hoping to mutually agree on many things.

“CM was trying his very best to ensure that all interested parties are given equal opportunity to be heard so as to conclude a consensus in the interest of BN as a component. Sometimes we have to face the fact that past record should be made as guidance in making some realistic decision.

“Too much egos are involved where some guys over estimate themselves only wanting to contest without genuine chances of winning.”

Abdullah also questioned Foo if he was implying that the rest in BN were not speaking up for the people when the latter claimed to do so.

“He is behaving as if he is the only one who’s got principle.”

On Foo’s claim that his political power comes from the people not the government, especially not from Adenan, Abdullah suggested Foo to contest on his own without BN logo.

“Adenan is trying to build up a winnable team in BN who will eventually make up the Adenan Team in delivering people-centric development agendas for the state. Milton obviously is not a team player as agreed by many of his comrades in SUPP.

“BN will win big and continue to administer the state of Sarawak. It will be great if all races are being represented fairly in the government of the day.”
