Najib fulfils promise to mosque and chapel

KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday fulfilled his promises to the Muslim and Christian communities in Taman Malihah, Matang by presenting them with the promised allocation to upgrade and expand Masjid Darul Furqan Taman Malihah and the Taman Malihah Anglican Chapel.

On hand to receive the cheques totalling RM6 million on behalf of Masjid Darul Furqan Taman Malihah from Najib at the Kuching International Airport VVIP terminal were the mosque’s management committee led by its chairman Mashap Alek, Imam Hairani Pabillah and Yusuf Suhaili.

The allocation was announced by Najib during his walkabout in Taman Malihah on March 12. The state and federal governments put up RM3 million each for the allocation.

Receiving the cheques totalling RM2 million for Taman Malihah Anglican Chapel were its management committee chairman Kana Gerasi, Rev Fr Ronney Cannidy, Temenggong James Jimbun, Pemanca John Tambie, Penghulu Jonathan Jelai and Tuai Rumah Adi Jala.

The state and federal governments each gave RM1 million for the allocation.

Also present at the cheques presentation ceremony were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang, PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment

Dato Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani.

After the simple cheque presentation ceremony, Najib boarded his flight to Putrajaya.
