MIRI: Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents (MATTA) Sarawak Chapter will hold the first ever Miri Matta Travel Fair here from May 6 to May 8 at Bintang Megamall.

Deemed as the most important event in the country which had earned the title of Malaysia’s No.1 Travel Fair from the Malaysia Book of Records, the travel fair is part of Miri Mayfest Calendar 2016.

“In fact, the Matta Fair has been held successfully nine times in four consecutive years in Kuching every March and September. Thus we could foresee that this will be an excellent platform for exhibitors to showcase their best products and offers to potential buyers.

“Therefore, if Miri Matta Travel Fair is successful, we shall organise it as our annual travel fair in Miri,” said the organising chairman of Miri Matta Travel Fair, Wilson Chiam at a press conference yesterday.

At present, he revealed that 10 travel agencies, four banks, one hotel and one travel-photography company had confirmed their participation.

“With the support from exhibitors specialising in tourism, we aim to promote both Sarawak and international travel destinations on a win-win situation for all involved,” he opined.

Moreover, during the exhibition, those who purchase packages worth RM1,000 and above will get the chance to participate in a lucky draw session.

Chiam urged all avid travellers to grab this opportunity to get the best deals and promotions on offer. Also, entrance to the exhibition is free.

State Tourism Ministry permanent secretary, Datu Ik Pahon Joyik, will attend the travel fair as the guest of honour.

Among those present at the press conference were Matta Sarawak Chapter immediate past chairman, Dayang Azizah and exhibitors.
