KUCHING: State DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen lodged a police report yesterday against two Mandarin pages on Facebook impersonating as DAP websites.

Its chairman, Chong Chieng Jen, said the malicious contents of ‘Sarawak Elections Papers’ and ‘Sarawak Black Insider

Expose’ had gone viral on social media after it was published recently.

They alleged Chong and the DAP planned to abolish the state’s immigration autonomy and to grant extremists and religious bigots entry into the state.

“There is no official Facebook page created by the DAP,” Chong told reporters after lodging the report at the police One Stop Centre here yesterday.

“Present were the party’s candidate for Padungan, Wong King Wei, and its candidate for Pelawan, David Wong Kee Woan.

“The two pages, namely ‘Sarawak Elections Papers’ and ‘Sarawak Black Insider Expose’ are part of a smearing campaign. We strongly suspect it is the work of the BN, or even SUPP.”

Chong said the state and national DAP had been very firm that the party respect and uphold the immigration autonomy of Sarawak.

“We support the immigration autonomy of Sarawak, and we will uphold and defend it.

“We do not condone abolishing such rights,” said Chong, adding he had never made any statement about abolishing the state’s immigration power.

He said whoever was behind those two Facebook pages were very irresponsible and dare not engage in open debate on issues and policies.
