KUCHING: The Election Commission (EC) has put the Supplementary Electoral Roll Bill (DPT Bill) for the first quarter of 2016 (Q1/2016) on display at 963 locations nationwide for two weeks from today until May 4.

EC secretary Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh said the DPT Bill were applications for voter registration made in January, February and March this year.

“The EC received a total of 111,333 voter registration applications, of which 88,078 were registration of new voters and 23,255 were applications for change of polling station address from existing voters,” he said in a statement issued in Putrajaya yesterday.

According to him, if an applicant’s name is not listed in the DPT Bill, he or she may stake claim by using Form B and submit it to the Registrar (State EC director) for the registration area during office hours and within the period of the DPT Bill display.

On the other hand, Abdul Ghani pointed out, registered voters wishing to object to the inclusion of certain persons in the DPT Bill Q1/2016 may do so by using Form C.

“The objection can only be made against not more than 20 persons in accordance with sub-regulation 15(3) of the Election Regulations (Registration of Voters) 2002 and sent to the registrar (State EC director) for the registration area during office hours and within the period of the DPT Bill Q1/2016 display.”

During the display, Abdul Ghani said EC will also list the names of voters who will be removed from the electoral roll.

“Among the basis for the EC to remove the voters is because they have been found to be ineligible to remain as registered voters due to reasons such as the voters have died or they have been stripped of citizenship,” he explained.

In view of this, he called on all voters registered between Jan 1, 2016 and March 31, 2016 to check their voter registration information.

Among the locations selected for the display of the DPT Bill are the State Election Offices (15), computerised post offices (441), government complexes/offices (85), district offices/land offices (146), district/municipal councils (63), multi-purpose/community halls (195) and 18 other designated places nationwide.

For further enquiries on the DPT Bill, call the EC headquarters at 03-8892 7000 or any State Election Office.

Alternatively, voters can also log on to www.spr.gov.my to check the list of names displayed in the DPT Bill.
