SARIKEI: The Welfare Department is trying to locate the next-of-kin of 11-year-old Riko Lumbok.
A press statement yesterday said the boy was found loitering at the Wharf Road bus terminal before he was picked by the police on March 4.
Riko has claimed to be from Nanga Bayan, Ketingan Hulu Kebupaten, Sintang in Indonesia.
He is currently under the care of two Welfare Department personnel.
The department has tried all ways and means to locate his mother, whom he only identified as Sampit, who was supposedly in Sibu.
Caregiver Julia Nuai said Riko’s next-of-kin are required to help sort out matters and procedures on the appropriate next course of action.
