KUALA LUMPUR: The National Service Training Programme 2.0 (PLKN 2.0) which is being conducted on a moderate scale this time around can have a maximum impact in developing top human capital among the trainees, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

He said despite the uncertain economic situation and only 20,000 places were provided for the new trainees, the two-phase module content was relevant and competent.

“We are confident the contents of PLKN 2.0 which has undergone a transformation compared to the previous one, is more in line with what today’s younger generation wants.

“Among the major transformations which were carried out was the creation of eight new modules in phase one, including Malaysiaku, Spiritualism, ‘MyFuture’, ‘I-Upgrade’, and ‘Service Learning’.

He was speaking at a press conference held after launching the PLKN 2.0 Transformation at the Esplanade, KLCC, here yesterday, which was also attended by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Hishammuddin said PLKN 2.0 also saw the introduction of the phase 2 module which gave more emphasis to technical skills with training for three to 36 months.

A total of 320 PLKN 2.0 trainees were selected to undergo training in Group 1, Series 13 at selected camps, which is for two months from March 26 to May 25. — Bernama
