KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said yesterday the clash of opposition parties in certain constituencies in the Sarawak state election portrayed the absence of consensus among them.

The prime minister said if they could not reach consensus even in electoral contests, what more in the administration of the states and country.

“And this is even before considering the formation of the cabinet or determining who is eligible for which post. There will be chaos in Sarawak!” he said in his latest post titled ‘Bersatu untuk Kemajuan’ (United for Progress) on his blog www.najibrazak.com.

Najib also said that there were among the opposition politicians those who continued to sow slander and indulge in personality attacks against people solely due to the parties they represented.

He said politics based on slander and finger-pointing was part and parcel of these politicians, and they had absolutely no place in any election.

“I believe the people of Sarawak can clearly see the farce and masks of hypocrisy of the opposition, and make the appropriate decision when going to the polls. Let’s not be fooled, let’s maintain the progress and prosperity of the Land of the Hornbills, let’s continue to prosper and grow rapidly with the Barisan Nasional blue wave!” he said.

Najib, who is chairman of the BN, Monday accompanied Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, in a show of support, to the nomination centre where the latter handed in his papers to contest the Tanjung Datu seat.

The prime minister said he and Adenan performed the ‘solat hajat’ prayers for the state election and all BN candidates arrived as one team, the Barisan Nasional Team or Team Adenan. — Bernama
