LIMBANG: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) plans to build a new complex in Limbang as an effort to accelerate entrepreneurial development in the division.

It is also part of the Mara’s vision to have similar complexes in all parliamentary constituencies in the country

Mara chairman Tan Sri Annuar Musa who disclosed that the building would cost between RM8 million and RM10 million said they were always finding new and effective formula to help their entrepreneurs to compete in both local and international markets.

Annuar was speaking at a ‘Sembang Santai’ programme held in conjunction with his working visit on Sunday night.

Saying that Mara for the last 50 years had been spearheading sectors of entrepreneurship, education and investment, he added: “We have been very successful; and in education alone thousands of students have benefited while some are sponsored doing their studies overseas.”

He said currently the focus is on developing the potentials of bumiputera entrepreneurs to make them resilient and adaptive to the challenging world market.

To achieve such goals, he said Mara encouraged its participants to continuously enhance their skills and be creative in their ventures, and one way of doing it was for them to not rely too heavily on Mara to provide them with trading premises. Instead, they can set up their own buildings so that they can have a sense of ownership while not having to pay rental.

Among those present at the function were Limbang MP Hasbi Habibollah, Putatan MP Marcus Majigoh, Bukit Kota assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, Batu Danau direct BN candidate Paulus Palu Gumbang, Mara council member Datuk Aris Samsudin, Sarawak Mara deputy director Wan Alwi Wan Bujang, Sarawak GiatMara deputy director Nazib Pabeli, and Limbang District Mara officer Safuan Nepis.
