SIBU: The 48th annual sports meet of SMK Chung Hua ended at Tun Zaidi Stadium here yesterday with three new records.

Form One shot putter Wilson Kong threw a distance of 11.08m to erase the old mark of 9.57m while Fifth Former Siew Shen Jun cleared the bar at 1.86 metres in the high jump to surpass the old record by 1cm.

Form One student Caroline Liong finished the 100 metres hurdle in 19.38sec to shatter the old record of 20.97sec.

Selected as best athletes among the boys were Wilson Kong (Form One), Neil Leila (Form Two), Vincent Kiing (Form Three), Wong Ik Chen (Form Four) and Siew Sheng Jun (Form 5 & 6).

Best among the girls were Caroline Liong (Form One), Kristy Lau (Form Two), Pravitrianna Harzel Hazel (Form Three), Tang Sing Hung (Form Four) and Angeline Tiong (Form 5 & 6).

School management board chairman Robert Chew officiated at the prize-giving.

Over 1,000 students competed in 103 events during the two-day meet.
