Banjarmasin police shoot a burglar

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Banjarmasin Criminal Investigation Unit Police assisted by South Kalimantan Mobile Detective Police (Resmob) arrested a safes burglar, but because of fighting he had been shot, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

“The perpetrator forced to be shot in the right calf, because of fighting and endanger the lives of officers who wanted to arrest him,” said Banjarmasin Deputy Police Chief AKBP Wahyu Dwi Ariwibowo here Wednesday.

He said the offender was a recidivist who had been in prison with the same case. In his action, the perpetrator pretending as scavengers and eyeing the empty houses abandoned by their owners.

He was SP (30), resident of Jalan kelayan B, South Banjarmasin. From the information collected, he had five times performed actions in the city of Banjarmasin.

Last week, he also took a safe box at a home, left by the owner to work in Banjarmasin.

The perpetrator was arrested while on the road. He fought and tried to escape, and the police were forced to shoot his legs.

Some evidences secured were safes, that had been demolished by the perpetrator, money Rp600 million, and gold jewelry.

He said the perpetrator who posing as scavengers have luxury homes.

In addition to capturing the main perpetrator of the safes burglary, police also arrested a fence of stolen goods. He was known with initials AN, resident of Banjarmasin. He was cooperative when arrested.
