LIMBANG: Direct BN candidate for Batu Danau, Paulus Palu Gumbang, is not taking lightly his sole opponent in the 11th state election.

He said he and independent candidate Ali Adap had their own way of winning the hearts of the electorate.

“Every election has its own challenges and this time around we have to work equally hard to counter moves by the opposition,” he said when met at his office yesterday.

Paulus said so far his election campaign had gone smoothly and newly returned unopposed Bukit Kota assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail and his machinery would reinforce the campaign for Batu Danau.

“With Dr Abdul Rahman and his machinery reinforcing our campaign logistics, we are confident of wooing the electorate to make sure Batu Danau continue to be a BN stronghold,” he said Paulus, 65, a Bachelor of Arts degree holder from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia said his wife and three children were among his staunch supporters in his political career.

The Batu Danau resident had been its elected representative since 2006.

In the last state election in 2011, Paulus defended his seat, winning with a 2,319 majority. He polled 3,667 votes against Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Lau Liak Koi’s 1,348 votes and SNAP Lawrence Cosmas Sunang Simpang who managed 140 votes.
