KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party Batu Kawah branch has launched a five-point manifesto promising to improve the quality of life and bring about tangible lasting benefits and transform Batu Kawah into a self-contained township.

SUPP president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said the manifesto outlined actions plans to improve infrastructure and facilities in the constituency over the next five years.

“If I were elected in this election I will do all the facilities to improve the quality of life and bring about tangible lasting benefits to our children and grandchildren in terms of business and employment opportunities, education, medical facilities, quality of life and infrastructure improvements.

“We don’t want Batu Kawah as a place to live but not a place where you work. At the moment the constituency does not have enough facilities to qualify itself as a satellite town,” he told a |press conference when launching the SUPP Batu Kawah manifesto at the branch office, yesterday.

Dr Sim, who is also the BN Batu Kawah candidate, said that SUPP would transform the constituency into a satellite town through the development introduced under the five categories spelt out in the election manifesto.

He reiterated that under the SUPP and the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, Batu Kawah would soon be known as a self contained town capable to provide job opportunities, better education as well as other facilities and no longer just a place where people reside in due to the affordable property value.

“We want not just a better Batu Kawah, we want the best Batu Kawah has ever seen,” he said, adding that in Sarawak only BN representatives had the ability to deliver and not those who claimed themselves as BN-friendly or independent candidates.

He hoped that voters in Batu Kawah would not miss out on such opportunity as they have been left behind for the past five years under the opposition.

“Please vote for BN so that all issues faced by the constituents such as poor drainage, flood and traffic congestion would be sorted out”.

Dr Sim will be facing Batu Kawah incumbent Christina Chiew (DAP) and independent Liu Thian Leong come May 7.

The manifesto is available in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and Iban.

SUPP deputy secretary general II Tan Joo Phoi and SUPP Batu Kawah branch advisor Datuk Alfred Yap were also present at the press conference.
