KUCHING: The Sessions Court here yesterday sentenced a jobless man to 14 years behind bars and four strokes of the rotan for robbing a kindergarten caretaker last year.
Ahmad Faisaluddin Abdul Rani, 37, pleaded guilty to the offence before Judge Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad, who convicted him under Section 394 of the Penal Code. She ordered the custodial sentence to take effect from the date of his arrest on Sept 14, 2015.
DPP Poh Yih Tinn told the court that Ahmad had three previous criminal convictions and is currently serving a 13-year sentence for a similar offence. He is also facing another pending criminal case in a magistrates’ court.
