SIBURAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he is committed to bringing Sarawak to greater heights so that it will be on par with states in Peninsular Malaysia.

Besides that, he assured that the state would continue to develop under the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

However, the coming state election will determine all these, he pointed out.

So for Sarawakians to see uninterrupted development and achieve their dreams for a better future, it is vital that the people continue to let Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem helm the state, he said.

“I’m committed to ensure Sarawak continue to develop in the future under Barisan Nasional.

“Therefore, let us give our full mandate to Adenan anak Satem (Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem), this is my, Najib anak Razak, request for the people to support Adenan Satem and also BN candidate for Mambong Datuk Dr Jerip Susil and BN candidate for Tarat Datuk Ronald Sagah Wee Inn, who will be contesting, give them the full support,” he said at Dewan Manggeng in Kampung Sungai Duuh after a walkabout at Siburan town yesterday

Najib acknowledged the high tolerance that had long been practised by the diverse communities in the state, which he said must not be taken for granted.

“We can see various communities and ethnic groups, be it Bidayuh, Chinese and Malays living harmoniously and peacefully among themselves and this can be experienced not only in Siburan but all throughout the state.

“This proves that the BN policies promote and lead to racial harmony among races and ethnic groups in our country. We are very grateful for having such, as such we cannot take things for granted,” he noted.

“We cannot take for granted peace, we cannot take for granted stability, if we don’t have stability we cannot have development, we cannot bring development, we cannot ensure better future for all Sarawakians and all Malaysians.

“We must ensure continuity because as the saying goes ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’, and thus, the government requires time in bringing Sarawak to greater heights and to be on par with the peninsula,” he added.

The prime minister also pointed out that the Bidayuh community was well represented in government, despite having a population of only about 200,000.

“Only 200,000 Bidayuhs on this planet, but they have one full minister, two deputy ministers and eight state legislative representatives in the state government.

“You are well represented although you are a small community. Come May 7, I would like to see the ballots in Siburan are packed with support for BN,” he said.

Meanwhile, Najib announced that the government would redevelop the Siburan Pasar Tani and the clinic would be upgraded in order to provide comfort to members of the community here.
