BA KELALAN: SPDP Women is using the old approach of going house-to-house meeting voters in this constituency until polling on May 7.

Its chief, Datuk Chiew Yen Chiew, said what was important now was to tell the people to vote for their BN-SPDP candidate Willie Liau in Ba Kelalan.

“Our mission is to go down to the ground, meet the people, get to know their problems and tell them to vote our candidate, Willie Liau,” Chiew said yesterday.

Accompanying the SPDP women group in the visit was Bukit Sari SPDP Women chief Hellen Kasing Labo and her members.

According to Chiew, the house-to-house visit was one of ways to get to know the people on a personal basis, identify their problems and to relay them to the candidate (Willie).

“I am giving directive to all my women members in Ba Kelalan to form smaller groups and go to the voters directly and campaign to support BN and Willie in order to wrest the seat from the opposition,” she added.

Yesterday, they were in Kampung Undop to meet PKR supporters to explain and give correct information to them that only BN government could bring development to them, and not the opposition.

On issues raised by the opposition, she said they would be brought up to Willie for further action.

Willie is involved in a straight fight with PKR Sarawak chief Baru Bian.

In the last state election in 2011, Baru defeated Willie with a 473-vote majority.
