Sukma Baton Run ends at Metro City in Matang

KUCHING: The Sukma XVIII Baton Run of the Kuching leg, which started at MJC, Batu Kawah at 7am, ended its Sarawak journey at Metro City in Matang at 9.30am last Sunday (April 24).

Sarawak Sukma icon Tania Bugo and former Sukma silat champion Ramliee Ahmad led 30 runners, comprising Sarawak silat athletes, to cover the distance in the last leg.

They were joined by 300 cyclists from the DBKU cycling club.

Upon arrival at Metro City, the baton was handed over to State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani in a simple ceremony to mark the completion of the baton run.

The baton run lasted more than three months based on the theme “Unity and Diversity” which started on Feb 13 in Lawas and covering 41 districts and divisions throughout the state.
